Crows Nest Caravan and camping park was the first campsite in Filey I decided to pitch a tent up after visiting a fair few others beforehand.
Crows Nest offers a fantastic cliff view of the coast and has all the amenities needed to satisfy most peoples needs.
Crows Nest seems to have found a good balance between good old basic tent camping and the huge caravan sites.
Whilst they have a bar, a chippy, and a shop it's not overcrowded with commercial stuff but caters for families that need more than just a place to pitch a tent, very well.
Dog's have to be kept on a lead at all times including Tess ( my dog) that hates it. Theres also a dog walking area...
There are pitches available that are close to the bathrooms, toilets, playground and laundrette. If you want to be closer to the coastal side where I pitched up you have to walk about 100 metres to the amenities, however, it's out the way and feels more like real camping there and the views make it well worth it.
If you do pitch closer to the coast be aware that can get cold and quite windy. Setting up closer to the edge of the site will give you extra wind protection.Tip: Bring a good wind breaker, especially for cooking.
You may have to search to find ground that is even for pitching a tent. Just remember to pitch your tent with your head towards the highest point and legs at the lowest.
Crows Nest Caravan and camping park is a fair distance from Filey Town (11 Miles), nevertheless, its worth a morning or afternoon visit for shopping or to walk the sea front with ice cream.
Head into reception when you arrive and pick up the information leaflets the site provides that can give you plenty of ideas about things to do.
This was the best campsite overall I visited in the Filey area and my No 1 choice. The cliff views are great, all the amenities are well maintained and there's enough to keep a family happy without to much distraction from enjoying the outdoors.
The only negative is the cost if under 4 people are camping in the main season or school holidays. £15 for one or two people a night is ok but "£30 is way to much" which is a little under the cost of a B/B.

Sunrise 4.30am at Crows nest. On a clear summers night you may only see 3 hours of darkness.

The all important coastal view from the bottom section of the campsite. It's great to camp here, however, for those that do not like wind you will need to pitch closer to the left or right hand sides, next to the hedges.
You can book a stay at this site by completing the contact form on the web site or telephoning. Booking early within the high-season is advisable to avoid disappointment.
