Outwell Tents

Review for Outwell Tents, Our Outwell Nevada L. Having spent many, many months searching for our perfect tent and finding nothing but ‘almost’s we finally found the Nevada L by Outwell.

We are pretty young still, I’m 25 and have two daughters from a previous marriage and my partner is 20, we also have two very tiny dogs, who always come camping with us too. So we wanted a tent that would suit all of our needs, be it camping by ourselves with the dogs if my daughters were with their Dad or camping with them and still with the dogs also.

The problems we found were that most tents either were too small, too big and thus heavy or didn’t have a sewn in fly sheet so our very small dogs would easily be able to run under the edge of the tent and run off much quicker than we could undo the zips and get out to run after them. They may be tiny but they’re very fast indeed.

The Nevada L gives us multiple sleeping arrangements but still within a lightweight tent that we don’t need a trailer, 4x4 or people carrier to take camping with all our other gear too.

We can have either the main bedroom tent as a 4 berth tent for us and the dogs or if they’re fussing and wanting cuddles all night then we can put up the other bedroom at the end which is a two berth and plenty big enough for them.

If we have my daughters with us then we can have the dogs in with us and my girls in the two berth extra bedroom or we can have the dogs in the end bedroom and use the partition to split the main bedroom into two for us and my girls.

The other advantage for us is that the extra bedroom if in use or not, is very easy to put up and take down so when everyone we’re camping with ends up piling into one tent in the late evening often it’s ours we all end up in, especially as my parents and my brother have motor homes with only canopies so we’ve got the biggest enclosed space to gather in for a good few drinks at the end of the night.

It’s a fantastic tent with many, many options and one thing that we nearly forgot about when looking at another similar tent is that this tent has lots of windows so if you do find yourself stuck inside in a shower you don’t feel completely enclosed. My mother raised this point when we were about to buy a similar tent with no windows and I’m glad she did because it does make a big difference but is something that is easy to forget, especially when looking at tents in camping stores where they have all the doors rolled up anyway so you do not notice if they have windows or not.

All in all this may not be the perfect tent for everybody but for our needs, with it’s light weight and it’s flexibility in sleeping options while still having a more than adequate living space it certainly has been the perfect tent for us.
