Eureka Copper Canyon 1312 Family Tent

Our Eureka Copper Canyon 1312 Family Tent Review. First used May 2008 for a family of five. Overall abosolutley great, here is our experience.
I set it up by myself in about 30 minutes, including time to figure everything out. With all the numerous, large windows and doors open, it's like having the outside in. In colder or wet weather, with the rain fly on and windows adjusted for conditions, it's snug and dry.
As with most Camping tents prepare the tent before using with seam sealant for protection. We did this the first day we set up a trial run in the Garden. We go camping from May-Sept which this tent is best suited for. It is not a winter camping tent. The design is for summer or moderate weather.
Very good ventilation, windows on all side, unlike a dome tent. The seams and material on tent walls, fly, roof and awning are good quality. The awning is pretty cool and large enough. The instructions are not clear on how to install it so we just attached it to the fly on the three front points played around a bit and got it sorted with a little patience.
I'm 6 foot and love the space. Being tall is an issue. I dont mind when I hike the backcountry with my MSR one man tent but family camping I love to have the comfort and room
Tent Tips to avoid problems. The provided stakes are a bit flimsy but few tents these days come with good stakes. Buy a good set pretty cheap before you go; we bought some on the next camp out.
We skip the awning for the tent now if there has been no rain forcasted. This saves setting it up sometimes.
Tarp under tent but make sure it is not sticking out beyond edge anywhere. If it is, rain running off the tent lands on tarp and goes under tent. This is a way we take care of our Eureka Copper canyon.
Conclusion: The Eureka Cooper Canyon 1312 family tent has been great for our family of five. This year (2010) we have two trips planned. This is the 3rd year of using our tent. Value for money. Take care of it and it will pay for it self.
