Coleman Cot Review

For those that like comfort whilst camping by avoiding an uncomfortable floor, insects, and having the ease of setting up a Camp cot, rather than using a sometimes unreliable air mattress, the Coleman cot has been a popular choice.

Advice about Coleman and brands:

Many Coleman products are for those looking for affordable gear and gear specific for various types of outdoor adventures.

Although Coleman is a well known brand name and has some great gear, like most companies not all their gear is up to scratch or should not only be bought based on there name.

We checked out the best sellers from Coleman, and this is what we found.

Coleman Trailhead II Folding Cot

The trailhead II is a folding type that should comfortably sleep one person up to 6'6" tall, and holds a weight up to 300 pounds.

This model is 30" wide by 80" long and 17" high when unfolded, this is what Coleman call the classic military style cot that has a sturdy powder coated steel frame.

This is not the lightest of camping cots weighing 17.7 lbs because of being made from steel rather than aluminium. However it does pack well and will provide plenty of room underneath for gear storage.

Buyers opinions are quite mixed for this cot, with some stating its hard to put together, faulty stitching and even one reviewer said it was not as long as advertised. Other users have had a great nights sleep on the Coleman trailhead camp cot and give it 4 or 5 stars out of 5.

Priced at about $50 its an affordable option although there are many on the market to make comparisons with, that we would advise you to do.

Overall Ratings

Coleman Converta Cot

This cot has a weight capacity of 225 lbs and the carry weight is 11.6 lbs which makes it lighter that the above model, but it's not able to hold the same weight.

The size is 26" wide x 76" long x 15.5" height which makes it suitable for those just over six foot tall..

The nice feature for these Coleman cots is the 3 position adjustable back and a two position adjustable foot rest, which makes it a lounger.

Reviews were more promising for this Camp cot compared to the above reviewed. With comments about this Cot being light in weight, easy to transport, and easy to fold away.

The Converta is priced at about $60 from various outdoor gear stockists.

Overall Ratings

Conclusion

The two types of Coleman cot models above are not the best on the market. Yes they are affordable with consumers having mixed views and experiences, some positive and quite a few negative.

We would advise buyers to do you research with other brands before choosing, and make comparisons to see which one fits best.
