The 4 in 1 is a clever design that allows users to switch from various ways of using the air bed. The first way to use it as two twin air beds, second the twins can be zipped up together to make a king sized mattress and finally the twins can be stacked to make a single bed twice its normal height.

Having the option of changing the air mattress from a king size say for camping then to the twin folded for home use for a family member coming to stay over gives it the ability to be used for many situations.

The down fall of using the bed as a king size is it has to be zipped up which could cause discomfort underneath a person, although a mattress cover will improve this issue.

The top of the 4 in 1 is similar to most air mattresses that's made from suede. It offers some comfort but they can make a user sweat if its warm. Most people will also be aware of the material under them against the skin. I always found with each mattress I use it's best to have a good protector between the mattress and cover or sleeping bag.

The double lock valve works well when inflating and prevents loss of air easily.

Like all the Quickbed models this features what Coleman call the "wrap n roll" storage system that helps keep the bed packed away.

Setting Up

Unpacking and getting the 4 in 1 air mattress inflated is fairly easy. An important aspect for a buyer to consider is which type of pump will be used or purchased. The pumps are sold separately.

For ease of use when camping a user might find the battery operated, DC for plugging into the car or the rechargeable type pump is best and most suited because they will inflate the mattress easily enough without the needing a mains for electricity and hand pumping.

We would advise each user to give the bed a trial run at home first. This will give time for the mattress to stretch and then re-inflate once it it seems the bed is deflating. This is much better to do at home rather than out camping and end up causing problems on vacation. A trial run at home will also give a user the opportunity to make suer its not faulty.

Performance And Comfort

There has been no major reports of the Coleman 4 in 1 quickbed air mattress being uncomfortable if it remains inflated. The bed is as comfortable as any user could expect from a mattress to be used temporarily.

Issues have arose when an air mattress a buyer received had been faulty or they lacked understanding of how air mattresses work in regards to initially setting them up and how temperature affects them.

Overall when we compare many of the air mattresses we have reviewed this bed deserves a decent rating despite our dislike of air beds when camping.

Verdict - Summary

The Coleman 4 in 1 air bed works well for those that want a mattress that can be used in various situations temporarily and can also suit different types of sleepers. Its easy to set up, inflate and pack away.

Its not a bad option for those that go camping and can use the bed at home to get the most out of it's 4 in 1 use.

The 4 in 1 like all air mattresses needs to be checked when it first arrives home for faults and then inflated correctly which will mean adding some air after its been inflated for a while. These are the main two problems consumers have had.
