Camping Recipes For Kids - Camp Food Recipes

We provide easy camping recipes for children. When camping we don't want to spend too much time behind a hot stove.

Camping is all about adventure, outdoor activities or just relaxing. Its easy to cook some cool foods for children, that are well needed to keep them energetic and healthy, after or before all the great fresh air.

Camping Recipes For Kids


Here are a few camp recipes you may like to try out....



Wok or Pan it

Stir fry is easy and quick camp food.Kids love noodles ( easy to boil in 3 mins). Family of four - have enough rice or noodles, 4 chicken breast pieces, two types of veg, garlic, ginger, soy sauce or add a sauce you bought or made from home. Heat garlic first add chicken, cook until brown then add veg and soy sauce, boil noodles and add to mix with chicken and veg.

Takes 10 mins max to cook.
Be aware of food safety camping when using meat for camping recipes.

Sausage and Bean Camping Hot Pot

Serves 4, ready in 35 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 x 454 pack of pork sausages
  • 1 onion or leek
  • 1 420g tin of baked beans
  • 1 410g tin of red kidney beans
  • 1 400g can of chopped tomatoes
  • 2 red peppers

Cut sausages in half, peel and slice onion/leek finely.

Place sausages and onion/leek in a good pan or pot for camping. Cook gently for 10mins, turning at regular intervals until sausages are browned and onion/leek is soft.

Slice red peppers, add to hotpot along with the tin of tomatoes. Cook for 5 mins.

Add baked beans, drained kidney beans, continue to cook for a further 5-10 mins.

Serve with mash, pasta or similar.

This camping recipe will provide your kids with a well rounded meal.

Macaroni Camp Cheese

Ingredients

100g pasta (probably should be macaroni, but its up to you)
15g butter
small onion/half an onion
2-3 garlic cloves
15g flour
150ml milk
90g cheddar cheese
mustard
paprika
cayenne pepper (optional)
1-2 rashers bacon


Cook pasta in water. 
melt butter and fry onion, garlic and bacon until soft
stir in flour
bring to the boil and add the milk
add cheese, mustard and paprika (and cayenne pepper), and stir until the cheese melts
drain pasta and pour into sauce, stir and serve

Your able to use many variations of these camping recipes for kids with more veg or less meat.



Camp fire fish supper
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
  • fresh fish, any kind
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 small onion, sliced
Clean your fish. Leaving the fish whole, stuff the insides with butter, salt and pepper, and as many onions as will fit. Place stuffed fish on buttered foil and wrap up. Place over fire for 7-10 minutes. Open the foil pack, peel the skin off, and enjoy.

Add rice with veg, salad or jacket potato.

Serves one person, multiply for others.
