The Eureka Copper Canyon 1512 Twelve-Person Family Tent is a cabin-style tent that sleeps 12 campers with a nice center height of 7'-4". The near vertical walls offer a lot of much needed space for the bigger family and the removable curtain can create two rooms.

If this large family tent is in your price range its the mother of family size tents. A great buy of them all, in our opinion for summer camp outs. There's 27, 5 star reviews for this tent from buyers that have used it. It's not so easy to find so much great feedback and ratings. I would have loved this tent for my family if it was within my price range and had a couple of more kids. This is said to be the home from home best family tent!

A consumer review stated the material was cheap but there is always one person to be negative, it's the law of averages.

Columbia Cougar Flats

The Columbia Cougar Flats II 8 Person family tent is another cabin style model that offers ample living space within the interior. The divider will divide the room available between two different rooms. This is ideal for the adults sleeping in one room and the children in the other or you can use one room as a bedroom and the other as living room space.

The Cougar features the GoBe dry rain protection and a Cyclone venting system. The GoBe dry is part of the design that prevents rain seeping inside the tent. The Cyclone venting is to improve ventilation for the hotter days and evenings when summer camping.

The bay window is a nice touch that allows a family to keep the window open when it rains too keep the interior ventilated without letting the rain in. The awning is another addition to its features that's great for keeping muddy boots or for sitting in the shade.

Overall consumers love the Cougar Flats and rate it similar to the Eureka Copper Canyon by giving it 5 out of 5 possible stars or at least 4 out of 5.

Coleman Weathermaster

The Coleman Weathermaster Tent's are another range of cabin-style tents that would be a good comparison to make with the Columbia and Eureka models.

Like the Eureka Copper Canyon range above Coleman have designed these tents for big and small families car camping. The four, six and 8 person models are screened which is basically a mesh screened room that's well ventilated for eating, reading, relaxing inside or for using for storage.

These tents have what Coleman call the Weathertec system which relates to seam protection, weather resistant fabrics, zipper protection and other weather protection features.

The Coleman Weathermaster tents are slightly cheaper than the Eureka models, however, they do get slightly poorer consumer ratings and a few extra negative comments made by buyers, but overall most users found they made the right choice and picked up the best family tent within this price range.

Eureka Grand Manan 9 Tent

Another very good option when looking for the best family tent for a smaller family is the Eureka Grand Manan 9 Tent . This tent is suitable for a small family of 4-5, although the best option would be 4 people. Good ventilation via windows, roof vents and door which is great for a dome style tent when summer camping. The only negative we can see, is the set up can be tricky because each ferrule (what attaches the poles together) needs to be fed through individually. The same when taking down because the channels to feed the poles through are a tight fit.

The Eureka Grand Manan is definitely worth taking a look at it if you have a small family and find the best family tent design for you is the dome style.
