Battery Operated Lantern Reviews - Top 3 Battery Operated LanternsThe battery operated lantern is the safest camping lantern available, we review the best battery operated lanterns to shine some light on the subject. There are a variety of camping lanterns available, although we found the Led camping lantern and battery operated models, one of the safest and brightest options. A Battery lantern removes the need for a flame that makes a safe camping light, with the advantage of not needing fuel, whilst remaining quiet, compared to fuel lanterns. Fuel becomes a concern for some campers because of spillage concerns and possible fire risk.
There's a few battery operated lanterns we thought were worth a good mention. The Led camping lantern (light-emitting diode) is popular because they offer bright light with a slower drainage on the battery, than a candescent light bulb. Many find a battery operated camping lantern is also a great option because batteries can be bought rechargeable, saving the need for fuel or gas cannisters and replacements. Top 3 LanternsAffordable Battery Lantern The Coleman Rugged Battery Powered Lantern is a best seller by Coleman. Named rugged as it can take some knocking about, with heavy duty thermoplastic and rubber housing. This lantern has a runtime of up to 28 hours on the low setting and 18 hours on the high setting. If the bulb needs replacing, that's easy with this Coleman lantern's quick-release system. Added features include a comfortable handle grip, three position switch for high, low and off. The lantern weights 3.26 lbs (without batteries), stands 15.25 inches tall and is 9 inches in diameter. The 13-watt fluorescent twin U-tube bulb delivers a bright white light, plenty bright enough for outdoor family camping trips, to light your immediate area. The Coleman Rugged Battery Powered Lantern (Family Size) Lightweight Battery Lantern The Black Diamond Orbit Lantern has been rated very well for backpackers and those wanting a lightweight Led camping lantern. Your able to fine tune your lighting needs with a cool dimming switch that's activated by holding down the on-off button. The collapsible design will save backpack space, that also protects the on-off switch from being switched on accidentally. Changing batteries is straight forward with the base compartment being accessible by unscrewing, and removing 4 AAA batteries. Weighs in at 4.8 ounces, and battery life is 10 hours high or 25 hours low. Most consumers agree the Black diamond camping lantern puts out sufficient light within and without the tent. Backpackers magazine state there is no need for a lantern , but you'll want this one. We agree that backpacking and hiking does not require a lantern, but why not enjoy what this lightweight camping lantern can offer, if the 4.8 oz is not adding too much to your overall pack weight. Priced at approx $30 Overall RatingsTrendy Led Camping Lantern For A Family Or Group We went with the Coleman LED Quad Lantern, that's perfect for car camping and family camp trips. This has 4 detachable Led lights, to be used independently from the main unit, if needed. If someone needs the toilet or to collect wood, they can detach one of the Led units for light and put it back on the main unit when finished to recharge. Each panel can run independantly for over 1 hour, with the use of 8 D-cell batteries (not included), with a total run time of 75 hours. To save further costs it may be worth buying a battery charger. This has a larger runtime that the other battery operated lanterns above. The Quad is a great camping light for group camping trips and any other occasion where people may need to split off into smaller groups during the night. The light range is 26 feet, witch produces a total of 190 lumens of light, which is pretty bright. This unit weighs 98.4 Ounces (6.15 Pounds), so its not a lightweight unit, although sturdy. Whilst this Led camping lantern is not the lightest or cheapest option, we really liked it for family and group camping. Its kind of a luxury battery operated lantern that receives very little criticism by users, in term of usability and performance. The Coleman LED Quad Lantern is Priced at approx $60-$70 Other Battery Operated Lantern ChoicesHere, you will find other popular battery operated lanterns, that may help with choosing a camping lantern. |
